How Patrick Approaches His Work as a Physical Therapist
“Clients usually look to me for help in accomplishing their movement goals as a way of regaining their independence. Neurologic or orthopedic problems, or weakness after illness and hospitalization, can cause difficulty in moving. I try to find the causes of the difficulty, to come up with solutions, and to tailor the solution to the individual. It is very gratifying to see people make progress and to be able to resume doing things they have been unable to do.
As an on-call PT, I am also very aware of the importance of serving the needs of the regular staff, so I strive to contribute to the client’s progress and respect the work of the clinicians who have seen the client before me, and who will follow up after I’ve moved on.”
